• Yes, you just need to make sure your device had internet and if it's a iPhone, you cannot send home videos or videos downloaded outside of iTunes that is in your library to the chromecast

• Yes if you have the screen mirroring option in your phone. Else the chromecast app will allow you to do it. Just check if your phone will support screen mirroring on chromeccast, low end android phones don't.
