You can use it to expand your current router and access point or you can use it as your new main router and access point. My suggestion is to get rid of your old router and use the Google wifi as your main router and AP. I recommend hardwiring all the device if you can but you can also connect it wirelessly.

They shouldn't be used together with the same SSID name and password but you could create two different network names if you want. My suggestion is since the Google wifi is a mesh system, the other router is probably useless since the Google wifi is going to deliver better coverage so I would say scrap it and just have your Internet modem with Google wifi directly connected to it.
