IGoogle can act as both. If yiu our happy with t by e speed and coverage, no need for Google. If you have dead zones or want faster service, go with the mesh.

And if you happen to have a larger house and be buying this single unit to add to your other Google mesh units it's then quite a lot better than quite a lot of other routers. To avoid paying an ISP about the only thing you might be able to do is get an ISP to build a tower on your property - like we did - or maybe put a repeater to your roof. But you need land or a tall building for those options, plus an ISP that has a patchy service coverage in your area. We have some land and got lucky and maybe you can too.
