You only need to keep the Cable modem if you are purchasing the 3-pack. No additional wireless routers are needed. I've even got my Tivo unit plugged into one of the mesh units allowing me to get rid of the Ethernet cable between my Tivo and my Tivo mini. Tivo needs to believe it is on a LAN connection to stream content and this does the trick.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you still need the cable model as this is where the 1st Google device will connect in order to receive the Internet connection. After the main unit is setup you can place the other two units in other rooms to help expand you WiFi network. Keep in mind that there are limites to distance. The two other extender units do have to be in range of the main unit in order to extend your network.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will still need the modem to work with your Internet provide (ISP). However, these Google Wifi hubs are designed to wireless connect to one another, so you can technically get rid of all of your other wifi routers. You will however still need at least one cable to connect to one of the Google wifi hub, the other two will talk to the primary (or each other) via wireless.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need to keep your Main Modem to be able to connect to the internet, this system creates a mesh network you can expand to the house of your needs meaning you may be able to get rid of some wireless routers, but if you use a router for external memory connection you will need to keep that one

This is just a wifi router, you will still need the modem to get internet from your provider. >> Also have a cable running to end of house with a linked router. Can all be replaced? Possibly, depending on the distance. According to Google webpage, a single Wifi point covers homes up to 1,500 sq. ft. while the three pack covers homes up to 4,500 sq. ft. You may need additional Wifi points, for example if you have a long narrow home or thick walls.
