• You can use this system with a cable-supplied modem, which is what I do. I have Spectrum internet and the setup was easy. Simply plug the ethernet cable from the modem to one of the units (doesn't matter which), and then place the other two units anywhere in the house. Hope this helps.

• You can use this with the modem supplied by your internet company. They just plug in and the Google home app makes setup easy. I will say we were getting three times the speed using our internet company’s modem/router and these cut our speed down to 1/3 of what we were getting in every room. Despite the great reviews I found them to make things much worse. I am returning and will buy extenders for the rooms that are farther from the internet company router.
