Lens snaps on tightly. Air fills the space, no problem with bubbles. You can always put on under water also to fill space with water, it yields the same results. Lens is glass - it is fragile.

Included with the lens is a "lanyard" made of a thin but strong nylon string that can be attached to the lens, which has a cutout along the frame that you can loop this lanyard through and attach the other end to the suit itself, or maybe to the handle that the suit is attached to (which is what I do to keep the string from floating into the frame of the camera). The string is 14" long, knotted together to form a 7" loop, so 7" is the reach you have to work with. There will be water between the red lens and the supersuit when it is attached, but not a lot. From experience, I would fit the lens over the supersuit AFTER entering the water so I won't get trapped air bubbles between the lens and the supersuit that will ruin the pictures or video.
