The HERO8 battery is different than the HERO5 battery, so there are some things to be aware of. A HERO8 battery can be used with a HERO5 camera as long as the camera is updated to the latest firmware. A HERO5 battery can also be used in a HERO8, but you will likely see performance issues when shooting in higher performance modes.
