Great Camera BUT . . .
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My original reason for buying the GoPro Hero 8 Black was to create video content from my motorcycle. The camera is capable of so much more! Since it will take both video and still photos, including under water, it has replaced all of my other cameras. Wide range of settings precisely control the content. But you need to know. 1. No written instruction are included and the on-line Go Pro instructions are not for beginners. Thankfully, great third-party videos exist on YouTube. I bought mine about a month ago and am now just feeling confident in its operation, including content transfer. Once you learn how to operate the camera, its operation is straight forward. Plan to spend some time learning to use it. 2. Plan to spend some money on accessories, including at least one spare battery--it eats power. Mounts and cases are essential for usages. 3. Takes forever to upload video content. You will learn patience. 4. Plan to buy multiple SD cards so that you can upload content files via your computer without tying up your camera. 5. It works with Mac devices, but more steps and different apps are required.

Big jump, big reward.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GoPro replaces my old Hero Session and there is quite a jump between the two cameras, especially quality. I am very happy with the Hero8. If there were any complaints I would have to say that the door is annoying. It keeps popping off, which is better than breaking off, but I also feel like one day it will come off and I will lose it. At least the door is replaceable. Also, importing the files to my computer using the cord takes ~2 hours but inserting the card takes about 2 minutes. I guess my usb port is slow, but this is also annoying. I have included a picture that I made with the GoPro. I stacked the images from a timelapse to create this image of the stars & lightning bugs. Really awesome!

I use it almost every day
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A GoPro is an essential part of the active life. You never know when you might want a photo of a brief scene, if your GoPro is on, you can replay and find beautiful moments of your ride, your walk, your jog. Mine has its permanent seat on the front of my bike. I can recount moments of joyful greetings by friends on my way or times when parents and children formed a meaningful scene. I recommend GoPro to anyone interested in candid remembrances of their journeys.

LOVE (and get the warranty)
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE this camera. I considered the 9, but the specs on the 8 seemed to be what I was looking for, and wow, it met my expectations and absolutely exceeded them! I love the time warp, the stability is insanely impressive, and it's just a blast to film with. The only issue I've had with this awesome camera is that a minor, approximately three foot, drop ended up shattering the back led screen. Of course, this was heartbreaking, but it's in the hands of geek squad for now, and I can't wait to get it back. So, I'd recommend getting the warranty, it's just a good idea in case gravity decides to test you. I still give it 5 stars! It's worth it, and I'm beyond happy with the footage this little dude captures.

Beware the needed purchase of accessories
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never had anything like this before so I have nothing to compare it to. Pretty great overall although I've only used it on one trip. Just look up some youtube tips and tricks for proper settings and you should be set with the product. Just keep in mind the accessories are what get you. Dam accessories, it just seems like I dont have enough of the dam accessories; a gopro encasing for water/dirt/impact, the stick, different types of mounts, extra batteries, micro SD card, tempered glass screen protectors, case to hold everything, etc. This is where my wallet is feeling it the most. The dam accessories....

GoPro Hero 8 Black, my new “GoTo” Vlogging Camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GoPro in my opinion has finally bridged their quality action Hero line to vloggers. With the GPH8B’s fold-out “finger”, you‘ll not be needing a frame (cage) mount to connect it to a selfie-stick. Stabilization improvements over the Hero7 with horizon leveling is outstanding and soon adding the “Mods” (Media Mod, Display Mod, Light Mod) will make the GPH8B a contender against other vlogging cameras. The video modes presets and user interface shortcuts can help you make changes on the fly, going from a POV to time warp and back to normal with a touch. I highly recommend the GPH8B as an action camera and a vlogging camera.

Good investment. Great action camera.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this action camera for my trip to Cancun. It worked great and due to the fact that it is waterproof, I was able to do some snorkeling with it and didn't have any issues. Quality of the video was great and even the audio sounded well even when i was in the water with it. The only downfall of this camera is that you need to buy accessories for it. I bought an extra battery and make sure you invest on a good sd card because then you will have issues with it. It's like driving a Lamborghini and pumping regular unleaded gas, so yeah get yourself a good one. The Quik app is also nice. You can edit your pics and videos there.

A big improvement
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GoPro... I have been using them from day 1. The hero 1 was where it started. The three got an incredible amount of use. I even ran it over at a Jeep event, it kept on filming. The 5 had extreme microphone issues. Finally the 8 has come. The mic is great and works very well. The zoom option is a plus. The stability setting really works! The only drawback is the thing changed size again... time for new accessories. It does not fit in the gimbals. We use it daily to record online church devotions and frequently on Jeep adventures. Intercession City cog thanks you.

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between the Hero 7 and Hero 8
Asked by Shellshock.
- A:Answer Some of the new features launched with the HERO8 include an improved stabilization process called HyperSmooth 2.0, an improved stabilized time lapse option that allows you to toggle a single shot in and out of real time to time lapse, and built-in mounting fingers that mean you don't need an extra Frame to mount the GoPro. The HERO8 is also compatible with our upcoming Mods, which will allow you to add on a microphone, a light, and an additional display screen.

Q: QuestionDoes the GoPro come with an underwater case?
Asked by JMan.
- A:Answer This GoPro is waterproof down to 33 feet without the need for an additional housing, so the HERO8 Black does not come with a separate underwater case. If you plan to take the HERO8 Black deeper than 33 feet, there is a separate protective housing available.

Q: QuestionCan you "overcharge" the battery by leaving it on the charger for too long?
Asked by BatteryWoes.
- A:Answer If you're charging the battery in the camera or using GoPro's Dual Battery Charger, the charging automatically stops when the battery is fully charged.
Answered by GoPro Support
Q: Question1) Can it be connected to an external battery or power source, to extend continuous recording time? 2) Does it split long (eg, 45-minute) recordings into 10-15-minute files (like most other cams do), or will a long recording be stored as a single file?
Asked by MJR35.
- A:Answer Yes, the HERO8 Black can be powered externally by connecting a power supply to the GoPro using the USB-C port. You'll want to make sure the power supply can provide power at 5v 1-2A. Most USB power plugs like an iPhone power plug will work great. And yes, GoPro cameras use chaptering to break long recordings into shorter files. You can then join the files together into a single clip when you edit the clips.

Q: QuestionWill this camera connect to PC and serve as a webcam as well? Don't see such a connection under 'connectivity'.
Asked by bb.
- A:Answer It does not. There are 3rd party "tricks" for getting it to work as a webcam but it is clunky and requires you to download software onto your PC from less reputable sources. The "livestream" feature works through social media platforms and actually has about a full minute of delay. I wanted this camera for teaching class live but it did not work.

Q: Questionhow big of a SD card can you use in the 8
Asked by Danny.
- A:Answer For the HERO8 Black, cards up to 512GB are on our list of recommended cards. Note that GoPro cameras require high-quality cards. Please check out the list of recommended cards on the GoPro site for more details.
