• There is a door that can be changed, but I wouldn't use it if you were scuba diving. It would be useful if you only needed physical protection of the gopro in shallow water/splash depths.

• It depends on which backdoor you use with the housing. The housing comes with a solid door and a skeleton door that is open in the middle. With the skeleton door, you can still access the rear screen, but since it's open, it does not provide extra protection if you take the camera in deep water. If you are planning to use the solid door, you can't access the rear screen when the door is closed, but you can control many of the camera's features using the housing's buttons.
