“How can you operate the GoPro 9 camera when it's in the U/W housing. How do you take video or still shots, when there doesn't appear to be any knobs or buttons of any kind on the housing?”

There are button relays on the top and the side of the Protective Housing that will allow you to press the buttons on the GoPro. You will not be able to control the camera using the rear touch screen, but nearly all functions can be controlled using the buttons as well.
