You can use it as a dash cam. Only thing I would be worried about is it over heating from running that long. Especially if the sun is beating on it. I personally wouldn't use it as a dash cam. But it does do looping video.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can loop record, and has many options for that. To find a high end camera that can record 8 hours just is not happening. With the biggest batter out there (that fits inside the camera) you can get about 3 hours. With that said, there is a mount set up that has a huge battery in it, not the best for on a dash, but will get you your 8 hours. It looks like a yellow floaty handle only fits in the battery compartment and sticks out into a handle form. Good Luck

Length of battery use was directly related to the air temperature and whether or not it was inside the case. Plus the length of time recording is also dependent on the storage capacity of the micro SD card. We used 32 gb cards and got about 4 hours of video on one card.

Please try again later.I have about three 64 gig cards and when one is full the camera stops recording and no the camera will not record for 8 hrs. when left on and recording I seem to only get between 1 to 2 hours. GoPro told me I should get upwards of 3 or more hours, I have not seen that to be the case. I have 2 batteries and looking to get a 3rd which will hopefully give me better than 6 hours of recording time. It takes a long time to charge them so if nothing else I'll have a fresh one to start the next day or ride.
