No. That would be to easy! Before this purchase I had purchased something else which consisted of just cables and it was terrible and I ended up throwing it away. On the side of the unit there are two jacks: a USB and an MP3 or earphone jack. You must use a computer to get to the screen that allows editing, noise reduction and transport. You could record to a blank cassette from a record or the radio and maybe from a cd but I did not try to do this. I already had products to do and play everything but I didn't have anything to play the MP3 player except my jack it the car, nor could I transfer tape or records to my computer which was my reason for buying it.
