Hi Chris. Thank you for your question. The unit comes disassembled and there is a wire connecting the two halves together, please be cautious not to damage the wire when unboxing the unit. To connect the shafts, align the pin on the handle shaft and the hole on the lower shaft. Push the two halves together and twist the upper shaft until the release button locks into place, once connected secure the knob on the coupler. For a better visual demonstration, please see the video link attached. We hope this helped! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTgSuW9kH80)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The instruction manual says that the only assembly is to attach the auxiliary handle and slide the upper handle into the lower handle until it clicks. When I received it, the auxiliary handle was already attached so all I needed to do was slide the upper handle into the lower until it clicked. There is a thick power cord that runs inside the handle but it doesn't get in the way of connecting the upper and lower handles. I did need to lower the auxiliary handle but that was done by loosening a plastic lever by hand and re tightening it. If you are concerned about assembly, don't be. It's almost completely assembled.
