• It comes with one state for free. You have to purchase additional states separately. I have to do two states (NY and NJ) for several friends and have to buy the second state :-(

• One state program is included with this version. If you need to file for multiple states, you can purchase additional programs for $39.95 each. Note that state efiles are an additional $19.95 per return.

• This software allows you to download the program for a single state, no extra charge. But it will not let you file that state return electronically without paying about $20 more (but no extra charge to electronically file the federal return).

• Software for one state is included free. In my state (MN) the state software does not include free e-file, however. I do not know if free e-file is included with other states.
