• Yes, the freezer will keep liquids frozen. I live in a desert region, temperature here is extremely hot.

• I believe this does have a compressor. It definitely keeps ice frozen. I have had mine for about a month, and ice is necessary for my job, so I do know it does work. I don't actually make the ice in the compact refrigerator, but bagged ice from another source does stay frozen.

• How it cools I'm not sure. But it cools very well and makes ice with no problems.
