It's a truly shortsighted feature of this range. The crack engineering team at Haier (who presumably have no family members or spouses, or only eat the same food item over and over again) left the rest of us in the lurch. The oven knob has three settings: 1) Warm; 2) Bake; 3) Broil. What's the temperature at which it will bake? Why, the bake temperature, silly. (= What ever temperature you set last via its wi-fi only accessed temperature setting.) What's warm? Warm, silly. What's broil? Broil, silly. So, without the ap, this oven has ZERO temperature control. Warm, bake and broil are all you need, right? I guess that's why there are no buyers for it (presently discounted from $1,799 to $1,199 for stainless finish). Were it not for this colossal blunder with product development, I'd have bought it. But do I expect every person who uses my oven to download an ap, then learn how to use it properly? No, I don't. Frankly, how such a range was approved for sale in the USA without some basic manual controls to adjust temperature is beyond me. I mean, come on! There's usually only one person in the house who knows how to use effectively the home theater remote. Now Haier's expecting grandpa to spend an hour learning how to set the oven temperature so he can bake cookies with the grandkids while mom and dad are out. Haier- grandpa doesn't even know how to download aps!

We appreciate you reaching out, though we hate to hear there’s some confusion over adjusting the oven temperature; we know this must be concerning. We designed the app to add to your convenience, but certainly understand you may not always want to use it and did design the oven’s main functions to not depend on the app. To set the temperature, you would simply turn the Oven Mode Selector knob to the desired temperature. There is a section of the manual that discusses the ‘oven temperature calibration’ being controlled through the SmartHQ app, but this actually refers to if you think the oven isn’t getting to the correct temperature and need to adjust it; simply setting the temperature can be done with the knob.
