“Does this toaster stay at the last darkness setting, or do you have to set the darkness setting each time you toast something?”

• There seems to be a default setting. I have decreased it and increased it. When I go to use the toaster again, it reverts to the default setting. Caveat: I have not referred to the user manual to see if there's a way to override the default setting.

• It's factory set at four. I'm not sure if you can change it but hitting The button is relatively easy. It's not a smart toaster so it may not have the capacity to remember the previous setting.

• I have to reset the setting each time but I have noticed the preset setting "4" toasts well. I LOVE my toaster.
