Yes, took mine swimming and it works perfectly

The wrist mount one tends to slide around, the one we liked most esp when snorkeling and para sailing is the one that wraps over the hand and around your thumb, so it is a hand and wrist strap that swivels as well, you still have hands free to grad and swim etc. The other one we like is the floating one.

Yes, this mount can be used underwater. If you use it in salt water, you'll want to rinse it with fresh water once you're done for the day.
