- Answer JBL is owned by Harmon Kardon. They’re both the same brand but JBL is considered more fun/party centric while Harmon Kardon is considered more of a luxury brand. This speaker is Harmon Kardon.

- Answer Yes. In fact it’s preferred to play when charging. When plugged in, the speaker receives power directly from the wall and not through the battery at all. Notably, it also receives a significant boost in volume and sound quality while running plugged in.

QuestionHow does this speaker compare to the Onyx 4. I love the Onyx 4 especially for the bass, but they are now failing. Do these new Onyx pair with the HK Connect App to listen in stereo sound? If so, anyone know the ease of use? Thanks!

- Answer Thanks for reaching out. While our HK Onyx Studio 4 is compatible with the HK Connect App for stereo setup, our HK Onyx 7 has a Wireless Sound feature which allows you to connect two Onyx Studio 7 speakers together for a more powerful listening experience that doesn't need an app. You cannot connect the Onyx Studio 7 to other Onyx Studio speakers such as the Onyx Studio 6, 5 and 4.
