A:AnswerThis humidifier can auto drain with a hose (not included), but it does not self-start. After starting it, you can set a timer to count down or "Auto" based on the humidity in the air. It has no clock to set specific times of the day. I think the Auto function would work for you. Although the Auto function for me seems to run constantly till the bucket fills. I do live in Houston though.
