How is the firmware updated? null

There is an option in the advanced settings menu in the tv menu itself to update the firmware. Push the Cog/gear icon, push right once on the remote to pull up the full list of settings, scroll down and you will eventually find it.

Connect the TV to your router or via Wifi and it will update automatically.

There is a settings option in the menu similar to a phone. You can check manually or set it to check automatically. It downloads the update from the internet when new software is available.
