• You would attach the coax cable directly to the tv and it should recognize the channels.

• Yes, it can be used as a basic tv via a coaxial cable that can be used for a HD antenna or connecting your Direct tv box to it as well.

• No, this TV has multiple inputs, including 3 HDMI, an RF antenna, and composite. You do be able to use it as a regular TV without the smart options.
