You asked two different questions, so you received two different answers. Just to clarify: You can use a computer that has an HDMI "out" port (or will accept a suitable adapter for whatever outputs exist on the PC), or Composite Video out and connect the PC to the TV that way. Any modem would have to be connected to the computer itself, not the monitor. I have this arrangement myself, although my PC has a VGA, not Composite Video, port (I use neither, but am just mentioning this). Be aware that the video card (or chip, which is what most people have who are not into gaming) must be capable of a resolution that is compatible with that of the TV. On my TV, I use 1768 x 992, which works best, although I lose a little picture on the sides. Native resolution sometimes will fill the sides, but will "overflow" the top and/or bottom, making it difficult to view those parts of the screen. Also, the type of connector you use will also determine the native resolution on the TV as well as the available resolutions. This is one of the reasons I do not use the VGA connector, since that produces a square picture, not one that is wider than it is high. For 4K resolution on your TV when attached to your PC, you need a resolution of 3840 x 2160, although for gamers, this would affect your play and not really be worthwhile (which is kaprt of why I don't use it).
