Thanks - it's an Energy Power Bar and unfortunately only has SPDIF so picked up an HDMI to HDMI + Optical Toslink SPDIF w/ARC function audio extractor and hope it "tricks" the TV's OS to disable the internal speakers using the ARC setting.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you put in a headphone jack and select headphone only sound, it will disable the speakers. That's what I did so I could play my sound bar through the output without the TV speakers being on
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My solution was to plug a set of cheap headphones into the TV, that keeps the sound from coming out of the speakers. If you have headphones that are not working, even better.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not found a setting that only turns off the speakers but if you utilize the ARC function on the HDMI port it will disable the TV speakers and you will be able to control the volume of the connected device with the TV remote. I switched from digital out to ARC on my soundbar to combat the same issue you are having.

It looks like through the Android OS, in Settings and Sound, you may be able to just choose sound to travel directly thru Optical Out only, but you may indeed have to just reduce the system volume of the internal speakers.
