There are apps with 4K support built in. I have the same HDMI cords I've had for a decade or more and my computer is capable of displaying 4K on the TV. I didn't need any special HDMI cord for it. Same for my PS5. My TV is also able to use nVidia G-Sync with my existing HDMI cord, as all of the HDMI ports on the TV are HDMI 2.0. If you want to get higher gauge HDMI cords for video and sound fidelity improvements and reduced noise, go for it. But my HDMI cords from 2012 are just fine displaying 2k and 4K without any issues.
