“How do you change the default home screen to cable input? I should not have to change input to cable every single time I turn on TV.”

You can go to settings >> advanced system ..and change the mode to enable "screenless" which it saves the last state/last input the tv was on when you powered it off.. so when you power it back on it's on the input you left it on.. if I had to guess it probably consumes a bit more power in that mode but I highly doubt it's noticable
