That's a good question. I haven't had a need to drain mine at all, but I only use it part of the day. Typically, I run it afternoon and through the night and shut it off when I get up until the room gets stuffy after lunch. But it depends on how much humidity you have where you live. I live in a very dry climate in the summer. High humidity areas might require frequent draining.
