Can this unit be positioned in a dorm room and run the hose outside the window., the university doesn’t allow units to sit in the windows.. will it still work n keep room cool? null

the issue is that I do not have windows in the place I will Installed that unit so the exhaust will generate heat

Yes, it should work great for that purpose. There really isn't anything that protrudes the exterior so as long as you have the floor space, this should be a great option.

Yes, it does vent out the window. It comes with a window insert for the hose. The only problem you might have is how much room it takes up.

It’s all about gravity and water running down hill. 
But you may not need hose to drain. It actually does a good job evaporating thru vent. Unless constant high humidity you may just need to drain bucket occasionally 
It does shut off if bucket fills to avoid flood

As long as the room that's being cooled is small, that should work fine. the unit will have to be relatively close to the window, however. the hose isn't very long.
