• Yes, and setup that way. Just make sure it's tightened until it contacts the rubber gasket (the hose will no longer rotate). According to the manual, there is a restriction on the hose length, I think just 3 ft. It may apply more to the thin hose that comes with it (and the lawyers that wrote that).

• Yes. I needed to wrap the threads with plumbing thread tape to seal it from leaking.
