Q: QuestionIs it a good idea not to use tap water. I figure to use Sparkletts instead, thinking this will make the unit last longer
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Tap water is fine but it will build residue overtime. Just keep it clean on the inside.Unplug it remove the filter and you will have full access to the inner parts. And remember to dry it at the end of the season before you store it away. I run mine all year as it keep my office more comfortable as it add some humidity to a working space that usually run with 18/20% average( modern glass building with no window opening option).

Q: QuestionHow many btu’s?
Asked by Cindy.
- A:Answer Hi Cindy, Evaporative Air Coolers are not rated by BTUs like Portable Air Conditioners. This unit has 150 CFM airflow and up to 100 square foot cooling capacity. Air Coolers use the natural process of evaporation to cool down air versus air conditioning which requires a compressor and cooling refrigerant. They are more comparable to a fan, and should not be expected to cool like an AC. Air Coolers also work best in dry climates with humidity that is below 50-60%, and it is required that windows be open for cross-ventilation so that the warm and cool air can circulate. Feel free to send us an email at [email protected] if you have any additional questions.

Q: QuestionMy office gets extremely hot so I am just looking for something to cool it down, would this work?
Asked by Sierra.
- A:Answer Hello Sierra, an evaporative air cooler is not intended for enclosed spaces. The room should have doors and windows opened to allow free air flow. The evaporative air cooler works best when placed near an open window, so that outside air is drawn into the evaporative air cooler, the air circulates in the room, then exits via the door. The maximum cooling effect is felt when a person is in the flow of air coming out of the evaporative air cooler. Following these guidelines will ensure your cooler will work as effectively as possible.
