• It should not be a problem since the tstat does not control the variable speed fan but the HVAC fan controller does.

• Yes, I have a variable speed blower on my air handler, and it works fine with it.

• Yes, check the specs in my review to ensure that your ecobee3 thermostat furnace is compatible with the device. Not all thermostats are compatible.
