• Nest customer service, which is extremely helpful would most likely have a response. I use Android and Windows 7.

• Go read the install instructions and you will see that you need to connect to your router wirelessly and assuming you have some security like WPA you are already password protected. Yes works fine with Windows 8.1. No idea about Windows phone but can't imagine why it would not. Works on an Android and Iphone I have. Again go read the installation instructions to get that answer...

• Through the browser. But if you are looking for an app...tuff luck my friend. I use Windows phone 8.1 too. App supports only Android & iOS.

• Yes, the produt works with Windows phones and it does have a keypad lock.
