“Is the screen always backlit? I have heard that this thermostat stays lit up at all times. I want to know if after not using for a certain amount of time, does the backlight turn off?”

The screen will always stay lit unless you turn the screen timeout on and to zero brightness. Mine is programmed to timeout after a minute or so and will go completely dark until touched.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The trick is to scroll down to get to the "PREFERENCES" option, using the up down arrows. The "PREFERENCES" option is not visible when "MENU" is selected. From Honeywell website: "Backlight: The thermostat has an adjustable inactive screen brightness. This allows the user to dim the screen to their desired preference when not active. (When actively using the thermostat display [i.e. – touching buttons / making changes] the thermostat screen defaults to full brightness. This feature is not adjustable.) Adjusting Screen Brightness: Touch MENU. Touch PREFERENCES. Touch Backlight. Select the desired backlight brightness. Test the backlight brightness by touching the TEST BACKLIGHT icon (during testing, touch the screen again to end the test)."
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is (and its annoying at night!) UNLESS you go into Settings>Preference>Backlight>and set it to 0. It will then turn off the backlight when not in use. You can test it after you change the setting. When off, it will turn on when you touch the screen.
