“How is this unit different from the Nest other than the price? My primary concern is that it work and I an adjust it from my iPhone while away.”

This thermostat will work great for you and is a great value. The Nest if fine too, but I think it's overpriced. The T5+ has all the top features--geofencing, time scheduling, voice control with Siri, Alexa, Google, etc., temperature alerts, intelligent comfort and smart response learning, and the Honeywell Home app is great. It was breeze to set up, and it looks GREAT on the wall. The T5+ does not have remote temperature sensors and motion detection—but to me, those features don’t make sense or add value for most people (like you).
