• A:Answer Thanks for sending over your questions. The noise level for this unit, depending on the fan speed, ranges from 61-65 dB and this unit does not have a Sleep Mode. Additionally, when the hot season is over, you'll just need to release the drain plug to empty the 60-liter water tank.

Evaporative Air Coolers use the natural processes of water evaporation to cool incoming hot air and use a powerful fan to evenly distribute the newly cooled air. The temperature of dry air can drop significantly when liquid water transforms to water vapor through evaporation. These units are recommended for use in dry climates with humidity of less than 60%, and if used inside the home they need to be properly cross-ventilated by opening a window or door. Q: QuestionWhat is installing/using this unit like? Does it have a hose that needs to be attached to a window to vent hot air, or can I leave my windows alone with this air conditioner? And does it need to be attacked to a water pipe of some kind?

• A:Answer Hi, Evaporative Air Coolers do not need to be vented like a Portable Air Conditioner. In fact you can just remove this unit from the box, fill with water and ice, and plug-in to begin using. Air Coolers need to be cross ventilated by having a window or door open in the room where the unit is located. It is also important to note that these units are recommended for use in dry areas where the humidity is less than 60%. You can attach a garden hose to this unit for continuous water supply so that you will not need to manually refill it. Thanks!

• A:Answer Probably. My wife thinks it is loud, I think of it as white noise and not loud. It sounds like a big SMOOTH running fan (which it is). Desks close to it might complain.

Q: QuestionHi. I see in one of your answers you said just fill with water and ice. I bought one just after Xmas on sale from Canadian Tire and it was to be discontinued. Now unless the design has changed a lot how do you get the ice in the little fill hole?

• A:Answer Yes the fill hole basically is a 1 -2 inch tube leading to the reservoir. However it does have a medium sized "splash-tray" for placing ice which melts and runs down the tube. I suppose you could unscrew a side and put the ice directly into the reservoir, but you would need to be careful the ice doesn't displace too much water and cause the pump to run dry. I am skeptical that ice causes a significant drop in temperature anyway, it probably does, but worth the effort? Cool pads versus cold pads I guess.
