“My battery is locked in place but the unit is still flashing red and green when plugged in and will not charge/turn on. Does this sound like a battery defect? Vacuum is less than two weeks old and had very little use ... highly disappointing!”

I think the battery is not in place properly. Remove battery, and FIRMLY put it into place, then plug in the charger. Hope this helps.
