Hey AuntD, Thank you for your question! The Hoover LiNX Signature is powerful enough to lift and remove surface debris and deeply embedded dirt from your floors and carpet. If the salt and the paper are dry then they should get picked up easily by the LiNX Signature. It also sounds like you may be looking for a commercial vacuum.
