No, it is meant to shampoo and then extract water. You would need to vacuum with a vacuum cleaner that is designed for dry dirt.

I used this for area rugs, as well as wall to wall carpet. It has the ability to clean furniture and drapes, but i haven't tried that yet. Overall does a good job.
