“Would this work on office type carpeting? I work in a small office and instead of paying for a carpet cleaning service I am researching buying one for the office. Just curious if this cleaner would work better on thicker carpet or the standard short office type carpet? We do have some dirt stains from shoes.”

I believe this would work just fine on your office type carpet. As for the dirt stains from shoes, just use a little stain remover on the area if the stains are bad, then go over it several times in different directions. That should do the trick. I used the Pet Odor and Stain Removal cleaner from Bissell, but the Hoover brand probably has something comparable. It seems to do a better job of cleaning up stains than just the standard shampoo.
