Suzie, The vacuum weighs about 25 pounds, so that may be a bit too heavy to carry up and down a few flights of stairs. The bottom part of the vacuum does stay in place when you pick it up instead of flopping down, which does make it a bit easier to carry without worrying about knocking into anything.

It's gotta be over 20 lbs. I have a 2 story home. My wife will vacuum the floor that the vacuum is on and I gotta bring it up/down stairs and do the other level. If you're a trooper, get it! Or if you want a guy in the house to help out more, get it.
