will this work on HIgh pile shag rugs ? null

I dont have long shag but the vacumn has adjustments for different levels

I would see if you can get a sample of the carpet and try it in the store before you buy it. I have difficulty with it on just standard carpeting sometime. We also have a rug with a low pile and if the height setting is too low it's impossible to push.
