Hello. Thank you for reaching out to us about this dishwasher. Our dishwashers must have a minimum water temperature at the dishwasher of 120 degrees. With this model due to the distance between the dishwasher and water heater then we recommend using the HOT START feature as this provides optimal water temperature for dependable performance. The heating element is used the keep the water hot enough during the washing cycle and to dry the dishes. We might suggest turning on the HOT water at the sink before running the dishwasher to get the hot water to your dishwasher. Hope this helps. Stay well. Geoff@GEA
