• I'm not sure, but it seems like it works best on flat surfaces. Our sons just use it inside. They easily ride on it on wood surfaces and carpet. The transition is smooth when they switch from wood to carpet.

• No. Its for hard surface use. They make ones for offroad with bigger wheels but they are more expensive.
