Most 7 year olds can ride a hoverboard. The reason is that most have a built-in gyroscope that makes them self balancing. to get your child off to the right start, be sure to follow the directions which will tell you which plot foot to place on the hoverboard first and also it is important that you mount the hoverboard with the hoverboard in front of you and not behind you. Once you first get on the hoverboard it's also a good idea to just stay on there and balance for a few seconds and get comfortable. It's a good idea to start by having one wheel of the hoverboard next to a wall so that you can place your hand on the wall to balance a little bit. The wheel should be facing along the side of the wall not facing into the wall. Now that you feel comfortable balancing you just tip your feet forward slightly and it will start moving forward. As long as you tip both of your feet forward the same amount it will go straight if you tip your right foot forward more than your left foot it will turn to the left and vice versa. If you tip your feet backward it will go backward. It's just that simple.

I purchased it for my 13 year old but my 11 and 9 year olds ride it. It is rated 13+ but I would say with proper safety and supervision a 7 year old could ride on this.
