No you do not. Works with programmed actions on the drone itself. For more control, can use the app.

You dont need it as the drone itself follows and records on its own. Just dowmload the app and you can review the videos on there. Only thing is you have to go to settings on the app and make sure you turn on audio as its automatically off.

You can use your phone but it should have a beacon for easier control
