Q: QuestionThis comes with a 45W adapter. Can other HP adapters be used without harming the computer? I have 65W adapter that fits along with a 120W HP docking station.
Asked by Razz8085.
This question was asked about the related product: HP - 14" Laptop - Intel Celeron - 4GB Memory - 64GB eMMC - Indigo Blue
- A:Answer Thank you for your question. In the case of most devices, it is safe to use an adapter with a higher wattage (W) rating, as the device will only draw the amount of power it needs to run effectively. With this in mind, voltage is the essential factor and should be the same or within a tolerance of one volt. Keep in mind, this will not change the rate at which the device charges, as it will only pull the amount of power it needs and is rated to have transferred to it.

Q: QuestionDoes this computer have a web cam? and can I disable S mode? I am needing to purchase for a proctored exam so they need to be able to access my computer to monitor me through the exam.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It does have a built-in camera on the unit. You can disable S Mode, but it may slow down the device and lower the security of the unit and S Mode cannot be reactivated after turning it off. If you need to download any third-party software, you may want something with at least 256GB of storage and a bit more RAM if they have to monitor you throughout the exam if you are doing it on the unit. You may want to talk to a Best Buy associate directly about your needs with system requirements for the software you will be using directly to make certain you have a compatible device.

Q: QuestionDoes it update often? And does it go slow after awhile? Battery life how long?
Asked by Moca.
- A:Answer Thank you for the question. Update intervals are determined by the software developer. It's impossible to tell you when updates will occur. Speed should remain steady but can be affected by limited RAM, and how hard the processor is working. You might want to go with an i3 processor and 8GB of RAM if you intend to do more than basic (email, streaming, homework) computing. Using mobile settings, the battery life of the 14-dq0054dx is indicated as up to 10 hours and 15 minutes. It supports battery fast charge: approximately 50% in 45 minutes.
