Thank you for the question. We suggest that you reach out to HP Support for assistance. While a 12-volt converter could work (in theory) in place of the AC charger for a 45-watt charger, you may notice that the efficiency is no more than 90%. Additionally, there may be issues with the warranty due to using an alternate power source. HP Support is better equipped to answer your question.
