I hope you have resolved this issue by now, but for all others: I believe that if you don't buy the extra warranty at time of purchase, you have a 30-day window to do so. Check the bottom of any Best Buy page for suitable links, such as the one for Support. Also, you might be eligible for an additional warranty from either HP or a third-party, like your home insurance company (which is often cheaper, by the way).
