Yes, use an old credit card (or similar thin plastic) to slide in-between back and front, you will need to apply considerable force and twist the credit card in order to begin the separation. Then draw the card along the seam (twisting as necessary) to pop the two sides apart. Only way to do it without harm to either side. Quite a tricky and ridiculous assembly by HP, an access panel for RAM would be a no brainer. PS there are two RAM ports, one is reversed, good luck.
