Because it's a new computer, it comes with HP's one year limited warranty for parts and labor (so if there's a defect, that's covered) which is no charge. It doesn't cover things like drops and spills. You can get Geek Squad protection which does cover those things. Depending on if you get the 1 year, 2 year, or 3 year protection, the cost varies from $134.99 to $249.99
